<p>Why does this happen though? Why would your mind do this? Surely you should be supported by your own mind. I&#8217;ll try to explain. </p>
<p>The problem occurs because of our instinct for repetitive action. This is caused in nature due to an existing habit being considered as a survival tactic. If you always do something one way and are alive, then changing the plan involves risk. </p>
<p>It&#8217;s a natural animal self preservation technique but the problem is we don&#8217;t need it any more. </p>
<p>You may have noticed yourself how people tend to follow a pattern if there&#8217;s one present. Did you ever pay way too much attention to where you were placing your feet as a child? It&#8217;s the same thing, a repetitive routine action comforts us. And a change doesn&#8217;t. </p>
<p>It wasn&#8217;t long ago that the average age of a human was 40. <br />
As far as your body is concerned it must be doing the right thing. This is where your higher functions need to kick in. </p>
<p>As an intelligent human being you know that being overweight is dangerous, but your body isn&#8217;t aware of it. You need to override basic instincts and fears and recognise them for what they are. </p>
<p>Obviously our current longevity owes nothing to obesity but how are our bodies supposed to know. </p>
<p>However, instinct is developed over hundreds of thousands of years, so you must be aware of the influence of outdated instinct at work within your own mind. </p>
<p>The point of all this is that now you know what&#8217;s going on inside your mind, you can fight back. </p>
<p>Anyone trying to lose weight is going to have physical challenges but once you realise what is going on you can take control. </p>
<p>Positive thinking and determination will be your friend. You will be surprised how effective they can be at altering the subconscious blocks that try to hold you back. </p>
<p>When you are trying to make a change as significant as weight loss, it often helps to make other changes as well. Make sure to try and change something significant in your life beside the weight loss, that you can mentally connect your efforts to. </p>
<p>It is actually easier to pick up a bad habit than to lose one, so try to pick up a habit that will cause you to lose weight. Go for a jog everyday and your mind will soon latch on to this repetitive habit. It&#8217;s just the way we work, so use it to your advantage. </p>
<p>This is probably a more important point than you realise. Your mind really does love repetitive tasks. It&#8217;s one of the reasons people have such trouble quitting smoking even though they can get nicotine replacement. The reason is habit dependency, so harness this power to your own advantage. </p>

<p>Fist of all you have to remember that your body is that of an animal, and as such has certain built in responses. These responses are caused by millions of years of evolution, and are hard to work around if you don&#8217;t know what they are. </p>
<p>When you go on a diet and start eating less food certain things happen in your body that you may not be aware of. For instance as with any animal, when we suddenly eat less our body thinks we are experiencing a famine so it changes our metabolism. It does this to protect your reserves and to hoard as much fat as possible against an uncertain future. It also changes the amount of fuel you require by causing you to want to move around less. </p>
<p>These are not things conducive to helping you lose weight. </p>
<p>Your body will switch to a super fuel efficient machine that requires hardly any food to run and as a by-product, destroys your hope of losing weight. </p>
<p>It gets worse than this though, as you are about learn. When your body thinks it&#8217;s going to starve it also starts to cause you to experience an overwhelming desire to eat. </p>
<p>Remember your body thinks you&#8217;re in danger. Starvation has been a killer for humans since the dawn of our race, and as far as millions of years of instinct is concerned you need to go the extra mile to get food. </p>
<p>If you were living in a jungle this would be fine. You might be inspired to go somewhere you hadn&#8217;t been before in search of food, and possibly solve your problems. However you know this is no longer the situation. </p>
<p>Modern living unfortunately is unaware or unconcerned in what went into our evolution, and because of this often makes terrible mistakes. Unfortunately television plays an important role in our lives today, and mentioning our evolution, or the fact we are animals is not want people want to hear. This does not however change the fundamental truth that we are. </p>
<p>Do you realise that by eating foods you desire, you will reassure your body that there are no problems with obtaining food. You aren&#8217;t starving and everything is OK. </p>
<p>Once you have done this your body will start to run far less efficiently, and this means it stores less of the food as fat. </p>
<p>When reviewing this information you ought to realise that diets by their very essence are hindered by your nature. And as we know from multiple examples, if you set ourselves against nature, you set ourselves up for failure. </p>
<p>Don&#8217;t fight the way you own body works, use it to your own advantage. Your bodies metabolism triggers can help you lose weight without effort and pain if you only decide to pay attention to the way your made. </p>

<p>You may be confused if you haven&#8217;t heard about conscious eating before, so let me try to explain it. To start with, you should be aware that conscious eating is exactly what it sounds like. <br />
Being aware of what you eat. </p>
<p>It is basically about being aware of what you eat and how full you are. It is far to easy to eat large amounts of food just because those around you are. Make sure that you don&#8217;t continue eating just because you aren&#8217;t paying attention. </p>
<p>When your body no longer requires food you should stop eating, but how do you tell? Largely just by paying attention but we&#8217;ll discuss it in greater detail later. </p>
<p>If you&#8217;re in a restaurant it may seem much harder to stop eating if you&#8217;re with company. Simply tell the people that you&#8217;re with that you are just trying a new type of diet, one that doesn&#8217;t require staving yourself but simply eating until you no longer feel hunger. This is a diet nobody will complain about, and you may have an interesting topic to talk about. </p>
<p>I&#8217;m sure if you pay attention to the taste and texture of your food that you will quickly find you actually require less food. </p>
<p>The main reason this happens is because you are aware that you are full. If you know that you are full then you will stop eating. </p>
<p>It&#8217;s a simple concept but one that escapes most people. Their body is actually informed of what is happening by what they experience. </p>
<p>If you don&#8217;t actively experience the sensation of eating you will still feel you need to eat. </p>
<p>Right, so what does this teach us.? To pay attention to what we eat and we will want less. </p>
<p>Weight loss really is achievable by this means alone but here&#8217;s some tips to help you out. Every few mouthfuls concentrate on how salty or sweet your food is. Also pay attention to how fatty it tastes. </p>
<p>You will find your body changes the taste of food for you depending on it&#8217;s requirements. And by extension you are able to judge how much food you need by the relative tastes. </p>
<p>By being aware of the flavours and textures of your food, you will find weight loss is very achievable. </p>
<p>Don&#8217;t put off your efforts due to lack of determination. Make sure you actively start using this method. </p>
<p>It really isn&#8217;t a hard method to try and I think you will be very impressed by the results. </p>
<p>Positive thinking is also incredibly important to your determination, so make sure you remind yourself often of why it is that your trying to lose weight. </p>
<p>It may be because you want to attract members of the opposite sex, or it could be due to health concerns. Either way you will need to be positive and determined. Make sure you only have friends who support you, as negative people cause negative results. </p>
<p>If you want to lose weight you will need to decide to make a stand and do it.</p>

<p>If you plan to lose weight, you first need to understand your own motivation. If you&#8217;re not sure what it is that you want from losing the weight, how are you supposed to maintain your will power? </p>
<p>Often it is the case that people want to lose weight for the purposes of getting a partner. This is obviously a fairly basic motivation and not the bad motivator that some may claim. It is a fact that you are more likely to attract more potential partners the closer you are to the stereotype of physical beauty. </p>
<p>Other motivations that may motivate you could be peer pressure. People often knock peer pressure as if it&#8217;s something to knock aside as unimportant. It isn&#8217;t. It is something that needs to be dealt with, as too much peer pressure can lead to stress. And stress is very bad for you </p>
<p>You will also find that if you are a victim of peer pressure, you will be more likely to be stressed and this in time will lead to a lack of conviction and will power. </p>
<p>Just make sure that you aren&#8217;t trying to lose weight for other people, as this won&#8217;t work. If you&#8217;re going to lose weight it needs to be for you. Trying to lose weight for someone else will inevitably fail as it&#8217;s an important step and needs to be done for you. <br />
A great reason to lose weight is due to health reasons. As well as the host of popular topics being discussed in the media, the old favorites are still there. Excess strain on your heart, kidneys, liver and vascular system. </p>
<p>If you have decided to lose weight due to health related reasons I truly wish you the best. Remember that while it isn&#8217;t easy, nothing in life worth having ever is. </p>
<p>Of all the reasons for weight loss my favourite has to be revenge. Let me explain: A man leaves a woman and runs off with a girl several pounds lighter. There is simply no better revenge then to turn up in his local bar several months later looking like the bomb. </p>
<p>Whatever your motivation, if you&#8217;re going to be successful you really need to make a stand. Draw your line in the sand, and declare the old you dead. </p>
<p>Sounds dramatic doesn&#8217;t it. Well it is but the point is that you need to let your subconscious know you&#8217;re serious. </p>
<p>It&#8217;s going to make a big change in your life so be ready. Plan your life for how it will be afterwards. By visualising the future everyday, we can train our brain to except a future that we choose instead of allowing a random to unfold.&nbsp;</p>

<p>When someone hasn&#8217;t exercised in some years and then starts a heavy regime, they risk doing themselves some serious damage. </p>
<p>You may be thinking that incoming energy minus your outgoing energy is your fat reserve, this is only a very basic understanding though. In actual fact when you suddenly start exercising, you will send your body into survival mode. As soon as you do this you will start to have trouble losing weight. </p>
<p>While you will start building muscle you won&#8217;t really notice any weight loss because your body will panic and start to hoard its reserves. </p>
<p>Consider in nature when a person would have traditionally started to push themselves to their limits. It would be in an extreme survival situation or war, and as these are the signals you&#8217;re sending your body. It reacts accordingly. </p>
<p>If you want to actually lose weight then you need to make sure you don&#8217;t panic your body. Start exercising very gradually, while paying extra care to only increase your regime by a very small amount each day. </p>
<p>Remember that the human race has evolved very slowly over a long time to function in a certain way. Don&#8217;t try confusing it just because the television&#8217;s latest trend says so. </p>
<p>Be aware that you were designed to survive under vastly different circumstances than we experience today. </p>
<p>When your body finds you&#8217;re spending all day running and struggling it thinks you&#8217;re in danger. What do you think happens then? Yes, you got it. Your metabolism undergoes a huge change and starts desperately saving its reserves. </p>
<p>Don&#8217;t start exercising too fast. Only exercise very lightly to start with. You shouldn&#8217;t start doing a proper exercise routine for quite some time. To start with you should be doing very light exercises or possibly even just stretches. Over a period of several weeks you should slowly add a few minutes extra, until finally you are doing a full exercise routine. This way your body won&#8217;t start to panic and genuine weight loss can be achieved. </p>
<p>The other thing that can easily stop your weight loss attempts from working, is dieting. </p>
<p>If you suddenly cut the amount you eat, you will send your body into survival mode which will lead to a change in your metabolism. This change will take the form of a sudden belief within your body that it needs to hoard fat reserves against an uncertain future. </p>
<p>It is a standard famine control method that the body has always used. Strangely it seems in recent times people seem to have forgotten this necessary survival method of ours. </p>
<p>Mix crash dieting and exercising and you know what you get? Very briefly some weight loss, followed quickly by weight gain or hunger cramps. </p>
<p>These hunger cramps are also a method by which the body tries to spur us on to search out food. </p>
<p>When you&#8217;re considering any kind of weight loss program, I would strongly urge you to consider whether the method is for or against our basic animal design.&nbsp;</p>
